Park Abdij in Leuven (Belgium)

type: documentation
date: 1999-2000
for: University of Leuven, R. Lemaire Centre for Conservation

description:
The abbot’s quarter dates 15th century, with adaptations of 1724. Today it houses the Centre for Religious Art and Culture, a non-profit organisation.

The outside stairs leading to the terrace and the front door, are a splendid example of baroque architecture. The stylish structure, including complex 3-dimensionally curved balustrades, were recorded with traditional tools as ruler, bubble-level and plumb-line. Settlements, displacements and damages of the blue-limestone fabric were analysed in detail.
