The open-air theatre was built in 1952, in the middle of a park. The original design beheld 2 parts: service buildings and a colonnade surrounding a courtyard and an amphitheatre with 1200 seats and an open scene.

Problems were twofold:

• fysically: settlements, leeking roofs and drainage, frost damage, etc.
• functionally: an outdated, unsafe and uncomfortable infrastructure

The actions undertaken were:

• executing the necessary maintenance and repairs
• improving the accommodation for artists and public
• covering the scene by a permanent tensile structure
• building of new technical infrastructures
